If you have driven past the corner of Cameron Road and Ninth Avenue recently you can’t help noticing the new Tauranga Vets premises. The clinic opened in May 2011, purpose built for their future needs as the new premises was an extension of their already busy practices.
We worked with Gael Garrett who was the Interior Specifier on this project. Her brief was to source the best products fit for purpose and to meet with needs and requirements of a busy medical practice. The team at Gerrand Floorings have enjoyed a long working relationship with Gael on her domestic and commercial projects.
Gael had specified colour tones and together we then worked to achieve these requirements into practical applications:
Carpet Tiles –
Selected over a broadloom carpet for the features and benefits of the strong commercial rating, a subtle pattern feature to assist with serviceability, durable for castor chair use and flexibility to changeout any tiles in the future between light and heavy traffic areas or to replace damaged or soiled spaces.
The Ontera tile used in addition to its strong commercial rating has exceptional Environmental Awards and can in the future, should the clients wish, be reused with the Earthuse Reuse Programme. The tiles were custom made for this project from the Ontera design and colour library. For more information on Ontera Carpet Tiles see the manufacturer’s website – www.ontera.com.au
Vinyl –
Vinyl was selected to meet both the practical and technical requirements that makes a product fit for purpose in a medical facility. With a commercial rating, marbleized design again for easier serviceability and a surface coating for more cost effective ongoing maintenance. Normal commercial code medical requirements applied including rod welding of all joins and coving in specified areas. The product installed was Forbo commercial vinyl from the Eternal Range called Mica.
Polished Concrete – This was completed in the retail/entry space to best meet the needs of their animal clientele and ease of maintenance.
Other little touches that made the look complete, streamlined and professional were the stairnosings used on the project. These were a modern style using a blue insert to match the interior fitout and brand specification hiding all screws and internal workings and finally the entry zone matting, often forgotten but so important in a business space to remove dirt and soil from incoming footwear and to make savings on maintenance costs for internal flooring.
